Mooring Tower Waterproofing 87th to 102nd Floors and 90th Floor Deck Replacement, Empire State Building, New York City

In coordination with Jones Lang Lasalle and Thornton Tomasetti Engineering, project involved exposing of structural steel framing for evaluation, steel repairs as needed, encasement of structural beams with 500 psi concrete, full replacement of concrete deck at 90th floor, and installation of waterproofing system (Liquid Plastic Decothine Membrane). Also, full replacement of Kemper membrane for transmission structures above the 102nd floor, replacement of Lexon window panels from 87th to 90th floors. Staff responsibilities included project management, design of construction methods and scheduling, coordination with owners/engineers/property management staff. Challenges included working with radio frequency protocols and building policies.
